A trampoline on the lawn and a playset on bare dirt both work, and both look like equipment. Set the trampoline flush into the ground, build the fall zone properly and surround the whole thing with planting, and it reads as part of the landscape instead of a delivery.
In-ground trampolines need genuine excavation, a retaining ring and drainage underneath — done badly they hold water and the mat never sits right. Play structures need anchoring and a compliant fall zone. Neither is a weekend job with a socket set.
